Hi there!
If you don’t know me I’m Eli (short for Elisabet). I am a food writer and food photographer from Barcelona, Spain that now resides in Boston, USA.
Since finishing uni I’ve travelled all around the world to research different gastronomies and their ingredients. I have lived in Italy, China, Thailand (where I met my husband Ross), Hungary and last year I moved to America.
I’ve also taught myself photography and food styling (it was one of my best “pandemic” decisions!) and I have a Master’s Degree in Food Journalism and Communications by the Basque Culinary Center. You can check my portfolio here.
When I was living in South East Asia I lauched Canela Limón Chile, a website in Spanish where I have been writing about different food regions, their most identitary dishes and the ingredients that connect them all. It’s in a corner of the Internet, so not many people have reached it, but it led me to give a lecture in Harvard!
What you’ll find in My Cup of Tea
Here I’ll be sharing weekly articles on the following topics:
Food writing about the history of different dishes and ingredients
Essays and reflections on various topics related to food
Easy recipies that I love inspired by seasonal flavors and my own Catalan heritage
Styled and edited photos and videos to bring you some inspiration
Photography tips that you can apply even if you don’t have a professional camera
City guides and travel advice
You will also get an extra newsletter every first Monday of each month with a summary on the articles published the previous month and a heads up of what to expect on the current one + a list of food stories I enjoyed. I call it The Monday Digest.
Why subscribe?
I’d love to have you here and share a cup of tea with you! You should subscribe if you are interested in food beyond food porn reels and tik toks. If you want to know more about history and different cultures. If you feel inspired by photography but are unsure how to take a good photo. And finally if you like to eat well and are a naturally curious person because here you’ll find your space!
My goal is to shead some light into how we get food to our plates. From digging up its history and talking to farmers and producers to inspiring with visual and written stories.
As a subscriber, you also have a dedicated home to review past newsletters. And we can have chats on various culinary topics too!
Put the kettle on (or the coffee machine, I don’t judge), and come join me!
