First of all, even if it’s already late: Happy New Year!
This is the first newsletter of the year after taking 2 weeks off, that curiously felt like months! I have been in Europe unwinding with friends and family and since my return to Boston I have been planning for this year.
Before I tell you what will be new in 2025, let me introduce myself briefly for the ones of you that joined us recently.
Hi and welcome! I’m Eli, a food writer and photographer from Barcelona, Spain, that now lives in Boston after many years of moving around the world.
I am passionate about food in all angles. From producers and artisans’ stories to global systems and the aesthetics of it. My goal is to shed some light into how we get food to our plates. From digging up its history and talking to farmers and producers to inspiring with visual and written stories.
I love how powerful photography can be as a medium to tell stories and convey feelings. And here in the newsletter I share fundamentals on photography with a focus on food and tips to take better photos.
I would love for My Cup of Tea to be a space where we can discuss and feel welcomed as well as learn and reflect. So feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section!
What you will find here
Every first Monday of the month I’ll send out The Monday Digest: a summary of the articles published the month before, a heads up of the ones that I’ll publish the current month and a curated list of food related articles and newsletters I loved + some personal notes.
Every Thursday of the month I’ll send out a free newsletter on the following topics (normally always in this order):
1 easy seasonal recipe (many may be from my Catalan heritage).
1 educational piece on food photography (fundamentals, how to, behind the scenes…).
1 in-depth essay about the history and uses of a dish or ingredient (mostly focused on New England).
1 personal essay/travel guide/chronicle.
What’s new this 2025
I am very excited to announce special perks for the ones of you that want to support me further. I have decided to keep all my content free but offer extras for paid subscribers, which is now an available option.
Paid subscribers will also get:
A Monthly exclusive Q&A every 3rd Monday of the month dedicated to answer any questions related to my recipes and photography articles (or any other thing you want to talk about!).
A Monthly personalised feedback of any photograph you choose. I’ll critique it so you understand how to improve your skills! You will be able to send it out in the private chat if you want the feedback to be shared or via e-mail if you prefer to keep it just for you.
A Monthly downloadable high resolution photo to be used as a wallpaper, screensaver or as a print! Each month I’ll give some options in the Monday Digest to choose from and I’ll send out the most popular one to my paid subscribers.
Recipe tips, travel lists and where to find gear will now be under the paywall. I see this is a practical extra that doesn’t take away from the shared free content. But it’s so nice to have!
Photography focused zines and other special content throughout the year! I’d love to host webinars where we can style a dish in real time if there’s enough interested people!
Choose which photo you want to download
The ones of you that decide to upgrade to paid, will receive the most chosen photo in just 2 weeks, in the first Monday Digest of the year (Feb 3rd).
These are some shots I took around Boston and Washington State that have a very nice wintery feel and would look great as a wallpaper or print. I hope you like them!
Regardless on how you choose to support my work, I am so happy you are here!
You can check out all my 2024 articles in an organised list here.
And please, feel free to share the word, comment and like my articles if you find them valuable!
See you next week!
This is so exciting! Very happy to support your work and continue to learn more in 2025.
